Professional Surgical Insight
When rebuilding the Select-O-Speed transmission, strict attention must be paid to the band adjustments. Always adjust Band 1 with the engine off to prevent lock-up and potential destruction of the planetary gear set. For the diesel fuel systems, absolute cleanliness is mandatory; always cap injector lines immediately upon removal to prevent microscopic debris from entering the high-pressure circuits. When overhauling the hydraulic lift cylinder, the back-up seal must be placed toward the open end of the piston, mating the roughened side with the O-ring. Always check the main bearing clearances using the Plastigage method to ensure precise tolerance matching, especially when combining red and blue color-coded bearing liners.
