When rebuilding the Eaton 850/851 transaxle, ball pistons are select-fit to their bores and must never be interchanged to maintain the 0.0002 inch clearance required for pressure containment. For electric PTO clutches, setting the air gap at exactly 0.012 inches is mandatory to prevent armature drag or premature slippage.
